Expertise that mitigates risks and improves certainty across power, site and delivery

Echelon works with leading organisations across energy, technology and construction, to support the development of large-scale data centre infrastructure. These partnerships form part of our broader ecosystem of disciplined delivery and long-term performance.

By aligning partnership roles and responsibilities early, we ensure more informed decisions for investors and a consistent, disciplined approach to planning and executionwhich mitigates risk and provide greater clarity across power, site and delivery pathways.

Our joint venture with Iberdrola is a clear example of this approach in practice.

Echelon Iberdrola Digital Infra

A new model for energy-secure,
large-scale data centre development

Echelon Iberdrola Digital Infra is a strategic joint venture between Echelon Data Centres and Iberdrola, Europe’s largest utility. The partnership directly addresses the data centre sector’s most critical constraints – land, grid power availability and delivery certainty –through a fully-aligned development model.

Iberdrola secures power-ready sites and provides continuous renewable energy supply, while Echelon leads campus design, delivery, commercialisation and operations –ensuring execution discipline across the full project lifecycle.

By integrating power strategy, site development and delivery under a single aligned platform, Echelon’s joint venture approach givesthe required certainty for faster, more confident investment decisions and scalable long-term capacity deployment.

Madrid Sur – the blueprint

Echelon Iberdrola Digital Infra’s first development, Madrid Sur in Spain, demonstrates the model in action: a hyperscale campus with 144 MW IT capacity, a220 kV grid connection, and renewable energy supplied through on-site solar PV and Iberdrola’s cleanpower portfolio. Launched in 2025, this project will be operational in 2029.
