Echelon Data Centres has commited to helping Arklow RFC develop its next generation of players as part of an expanded partnership with the rugby club.

Alongside continued support for the men’s senior rugby team in 2024, Echelon will now also provide backing for the Arklow RFC Academy programme.

This means Arklow will be able to provide additional skills and strength & conditioning coaching to youth players in the Academy – helping them to reach their full rugby potential and prepare them for senior rugby in the coming years.

Echelon’s sponsorship funding will also help provide resources for all the club’s players, including training equipment and playing kit, and support efforts to encourage more youngsters to take up rugby.

Welcoming the partnership Ian Gavigan, Chairman of Arklow RFC, said: “Arklow RFC has more men, women, and children playing rugby than ever before – and we’re determined to continue growing the game in south Wicklow. That takes investment and support, and the backing we receive from Echelon Data Centres makes all the difference to our ability to provide the infrastructure and resources to attract new players and ensure they remain involved in the sport into adulthood.”

The expanded partnership comes one year after Echelon, which has two data centre sites in development in Co Wicklow, came on board as a sponsor of Arklow RFC. As part of the deal, Echelon will be the main sponsor on the jersey worn by the Arklow men’s teams.

Echelon Data Centres CEO Niall Molloy said: “Echelon is passionate about supporting the communities where we operate – in the same way that Arklow RFC is tremendously passionate about growing participation in sport for players of all ages and abilities. The club’s growth in recent years has been remarkable and Echelon is proud to expand our sponsorship of Arklow RFC.”
